Emergency Services are provided by professional health care staff. These services include the initial assessment and triage of all outpatients, stabilization and transfer to appropriate emergency service, thrombolytic therapy, observation and stabilization.
Heartland provides emergency medical services (EMS) throughout the region with 27 emergency vehicles and approximately 160 staff comprised of full-time, part-time, and casual personnel including:
- Emergency Medical Technicians - Paramedic (EMT-P)
- Emergency Medical Technicians - Advanced (EMT-A)
- Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)
- Emergency Medical Responders (EMR)
EMS is also involved in community programs like baby sitting courses, car seat safety clinics and drug and alcohol awareness programs.
