Pre-hospital Emergency Services

Calling 911 accesses all emergency services in Saskatchewan , including EMS , fire and police. MD Ambulance, located in Saskatoon , dispatches all EMS calls in the Heartland Health Region.

Emergency Services are provided by professional health care staff. These services include the initial assessment and triage of all outpatients, stabilization and transfer to appropriate emergency service, thrombolytic therapy, observation and stabilization.

Heartland provides emergency medical services (EMS) throughout the region with 27 emergency vehicles and approximately 160 staff comprised of full-time, part-time, and casual personnel including:

  • Emergency Medical Technicians - Paramedic (EMT-P)
  • Emergency Medical Technicians - Advanced (EMT-A)
  • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)
  • Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) 

EMS is also involved in community programs like baby sitting courses, car seat safety clinics and drug and alcohol awareness programs.

EMS Rover

The Eatonia Rover Model is an award-winning initiative that has two primary operational purposes:

  • deliver timely and quality emergency response to residents of Eatonia and area
  • address population health needs of Eatonia residents and involve the community in doing so.
