Become a volunteer for the Heartland Health Region!

Declaration of confidentiality (3).pdf. Please note that an up to date Criminal Record Check is required from all registered volunteers.
Just some of the many volunteer programs offered include:
LTC Entertainments Program
To participate in entertainment, visiting, exercise, reading, music and
craft programs at the Long Term Care facilities throughout the Region.
Acute Volunteer Programs
To assist staff with clinical programs in acute care such as endoscopy or baby clinics.
Errand or Shopping
To assist/accompany clients with errands or shopping, who do not have family or friends available.
Friendly Visitor
The visitor will give supportive companionship to a client who is socially isolated, to help to improve their quality of life.
Information/Greeter Volunteer
Direct clients and visitors to services, and resident areas within participating facilities in Heartland Health Region.
Junior Volunteer
To help make a client’s time more comfortable and pleasant whether in
long term care, acute care or in their own home; to enhance quality of
life.
Meals on Wheels Driver
To deliver a hot lunch to home care clients and to provide some social contact for isolated clients
To assist drivers in delivering hot lunches to home care clients.
Palliative Care
The volunteer will visit to provide social, emotional or spiritual
support to clients and families where palliative care is the identified
need. The volunteer fulfils support requirements in consultation with
case manager and other members of interdisciplinary team.
Friendly Visiting
The volunteer on a scheduled basis provides a phone call or a visit to a
high-risk client. The goal is to provide surveillance and a measure of
security to the client.
Community Programming Volunteers
To assist with providing programs to the community including wellness, immunizations, and Food Banks.
Gardening Volunteers
To assist with the maintenance of gardens and flowers at facilities.
Transportation
To provide transportation as assigned by the Employee & Volunteer Services Coordinator for clients.
Walking Programs
To assist clients in Long Term Care to maintain their mobility.
Telehealth Volunteers
To assist with the presentation of educational information to clients via telehealth technology.
